NPU Family,

I hope everyone is doing well. We have a few updates for you regarding some issues pertaining to our CBA and the Supervisors unit.

We have received numerous emails, texts and calls regarding our “personal day” as outlined in our CBA. We had a meeting 2 weeks ago with the LRU (Labor Relations Unit) regarding several grievances we have filed on behalf of our members. Bilingual pay, retention bonus, personal day, and a couple other unrelated compensation issues for some individual members. I wont sugarcoat anything. The meetings were not productive and it appears the state interprets some of the language in our CBA differently than NPU. The fight is not over and we intend to take further steps to ensure we get everything we deserve. Stay tuned….

The supervisors unit (Unit L) is moving forward, but slowly. We are ensuring that we take all the correct steps to ensure the process goes smoothly. In a previous newsletter, I tasked our supervisors with stepping up to run for a few elected positions needed to organize Unit L. We had a few members step up and we will be announcing the elections soon. The open positions will be, Chairperson, Co-Chair (South), Co-Chair (North) and Co-Chair (East). We are hoping to have 2 LTs and 2 Sgts to round out this Executive Board consisting of different divisions/departments. Stay tuned….

We are fully expecting these upcoming negotiations to be difficult. All signs point to the state not wanting to do too much, perhaps try to take some things from us. Rest assured, we will fight to keep everything we have and add new provisions/special pay adjustments to our next CBA. I have spoken with and met with the other 2 Law Enforcement Associations, NPOA (CATII) and FOP (CATIII-Corrections) and we will stand in solidarity and support each other in the upcoming negotiations.

What is most important to you during this next round of negotiations? We want to hear from our members on what they want to see in the next CBA. What changes to earlier contracts you want to see with verbiage or benefits. Please send all the additions and edits you want to James Mortimore (jmortimore@nevadapoliceunion.org). If you have something specific to add that is from another Law Enforcement Agency’s CBA, please include that section of their contract in the email.

As always, feel free to reach out to me.  You already know it is my goal to keep NPU moving forward and to help ALL our membership the best I can.

Dan
