NPU has filed the following grievances on behalf of all members:
- Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) has stated that Unit G members will not be receiving a personal leave day for the new fiscal year. We promptly filed a grievance as the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is clear and Unit G members should be receiving a personal leave day for each fiscal year of this agreement.
- The state previously held the position that NPU would be excluded from Assembly Bill (AB) 522. After a grievance was filed against the state, a decision was made that NPU members would be included in AB522 and back pay for longevity was rewarded. Based on this decision, NPU members should also be receiving retention bonuses that are included in this bill. These bonuses are separate from the payments in the CBA, and we have filed a grievance to receive backpay and these bonuses moving forward.
- Lastly, your Union has filed a grievance on behalf of multiple members who are being wrongfully denied special adjustment pay for their bilingual skills. The language in the CBA under special adjustments to pay is very clear. You will see there is one thing in common under each special adjustment and that is the verbiage “will”. This was placed into the CBA during negotiations as the concern was raised by NPU to ensure each person who has these special skills or assignments “will” receive their 5% special adjustment to pay.
